Solution soon for animal presence on Expressway
Some motorists have already complained to officials of the MTD at Kottawa and Pinnaduwa and urged them to take immediate measures to stop animals from entering the Expressway.
MTD Engineer Jeewan Fernando, Police and other officials responsible for the safety and security of motorists have already been informed of this matter which will be settled soon. According to motorists, it is common to see stray dogs, cats, monkeys and snakes roaming on the Expressway during evenings and nights. Motorists have also spotted a wild boar and peacocks perched on the iron railings on either side of the Expressway. A regular traveller from Kottawa to Galle, Kesara Samaranaike said not only the Police who are in charge of the highway, but the residents too should be informed about the matter.
